Planning a wedding day timeline can feel overwhelming! Between hair and makeup, travel time, family photos, and actually enjoying your wedding, it’s easy to worry that the day will feel rushed or chaotic. The good news? With the right timeline structure—and enough photography coverage—your wedding day can feel calm, intentional, and stress-free. As a wedding […]

What am I supposed to wear?!
Choosing the perfect outfit for your engagement session or wedding portraits can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. As a Pennsylvania wedding and engagement photographer, I’ve photographed countless couples — and I’ve learned exactly what looks timeless, flattering, and natural on camera.
This guide will help you feel confident, comfortable, and coordinated so your photos feel like you while still looking polished and intentional.

The best photos are the ones that highlight you, not the outfit. Simple, clean outfits photograph beautifully and allow your connection to take center stage.
Great examples:
Solid sweaters, neutral button-downs, classic dresses, simple knits, and well-fitted basics.
If I could give just one universal tip, it would be this: neutrals always win.
Think creams, tans, browns, soft greens, muted blues, charcoal, and black. These tones blend seamlessly with natural environments and create a cohesive, calm aesthetic.
This is especially true for engagement photos, anniversary sessions, or pre-wedding shoots in gardens, urban settings, or parks.
If you don’t feel comfortable, it shows — in your posture, in your smile, and in the way you interact with your partner.
Comfortable doesn’t mean casual — it just means choosing pieces that feel good and look good.
Matching outfits can look overly staged, but coordinated outfits with complementary colors look effortlessly stylish.
Think:
Beige + olive
Black + cream
Brown + tan
Rust + charcoal
This approach creates cohesion without looking like you’re twinning.

Some outfit choices make photos difficult to capture beautifully. Here’s what I recommend staying away from:
Multiple patterns, heavy layers, and busy combinations can steal the focus from your faces and create visual clutter.
Neon, saturated reds, big logos, and bold prints pull attention away from your natural connection and can cause color reflections on skin.
If you constantly adjust your outfit or feel restricted, the photos will feel stiff — and you won’t enjoy the session as much.
Example: one person in summer neutrals and the other in bold winter tones.
Opposing styles make the photos feel disconnected.
If we’re moving between locations or doing a longer session, having one backup look gives you peace of mind (and variety!).
Soft knits for fall, flowy dresses for spring, linen tones for summer, warm layers for winter.
I’m always happy to help finalize outfits — send me photos, ideas, or inspiration, and we’ll create a palette that photographs beautifully.

Ahhh, the infamous “first look” question. You’re planning your wedding day, and someone (probably your planner, your best friend, or your late-night Pinterest scroll) has brought it up: Should you do a first look?Or stick with tradition and wait until the aisle moment? The truth? There’s no right answer—it’s all about what feels good for […]

Picking a spot for your engagement photos doesn’t have to feel like a big, serious decision. Honestly—it’s all about the vibes. Do you want cozy + romantic? Wild + free? A little artsy + cool? The Lehigh Valley has so many gems that fit every mood, and I’ve narrowed down a few of my personal faves where I know the magic always happens.
Rolling hills. Golden sunsets. A little bit of adventure. Trexler is basically a dreamy movie set for couples who want photos that feel natural, romantic, and a little carefree. We’ll wander, laugh, maybe even get lost (in a good way), and capture those candid “this is so us” moments. Bonus: the light here at golden hour? Unreal.

Want something with texture and edge? The Silk Mill brings the vibes. Think brick walls, industrial details, and hidden corners that make every photo feel different. It’s artsy without trying too hard, and gives us plenty of cool backdrops for both those sweet, snuggly shots and your best “we look like we’re on an album cover” pose.

If you’re into charm, history, and a little bit of sparkle, Main Street Bethlehem is it. Cobblestone sidewalks, twinkle lights, and that storybook vibe that makes it feel like you’re in your own rom-com. We’ll stroll, chat, maybe stop for coffee or ice cream, and capture the kind of photos that feel fun, candid, and so you.

Yes, it’s a vineyard (and the grounds are stunning), but my favorite part? The suites. The bridal suite and groom’s suit bring timeless elegance with cozy, elevated vibes — and don’t even get me started on the library room. It’s warm, refined, and perfect for romantic, intimate shots that feel like they belong in an old love story novel. This spot is ideal if you want engagement photos that lean a little more editorial while still keeping it natural and fun.

At the end of the day, the location is just the setting—the real magic is you two. So whether we’re hiking through fields, exploring industrial corners, or wandering down cobblestone streets, my goal is to keep things chill, fun, and full of those in-between moments that tell your story best.
Love,
Nic 🙂
